Clothes hold so many memories.
my grandma’s vintage Friends of the Heart tank i sniped hahahaha
This plain white tank top in my closet brings me back to when I was 17 and helping my grandma sort through her clothes when we were moving out of my childhood home in San Jose. But, I thought it would have been a better idea to take it for myself and make this piece of clothing “generational” instead of letting it fall into someone else’s hands.
my American Eagle Outfitters mesh long-sleeve
My mesh American Eagle Outfitters long-sleeve from the Goodwill bins had an original neutral pink color that was retired after my friend and I spent a day of summer eating kale, painting, playing guitar, and dyeing our clothes purple in an attempt to emulate Whirr’s Feels Like You (2019) album cover, an album we bonded over.
jacket from the #Goat. hahahah
This jacket was shared with me to bring back with me to New York after a beautiful beautiful day spent back home in California with someone I have so much admiration for. This day was the last day I was 19 and about to enter a new decade of life. I sometimes think about how this jacket has known the person that owns it longer than I have, with their memories being sewn into the jacket. Now that it’s in my hands, I feel like in some ways I’m able to hold and attest to memories I wasn’t there for because I didn’t know them yet, wondering how certain holes appeared in the sleeves. #FreakingBeautiful!
If my clothes can hold so many memories of the people and moments that have shaped me, I’m sure everyone else has their own stories to tell. So, I asked some beautiful people what their favorite memory was in their Blondita _____.
ava, los angeles, @t3ethfairy
My friend Ava’s favorite black dress is her Blondita Noir Janis dress. It was the first thing she packed for her vacation to New York City! Despite wearing it multiple times on her trip, her favorite day was when she wore it out to Central Park.
“From walking all the way from my hotel to watching my little cousins have a blast at the zoo, I felt so beautiful and happy.”
Like come on…
Imagine holding a baby goat at Central Park’s Children’s Zoo in a fucking Janis Dress…
“What made this day so beautiful was not just the outfit, but that I was surrounded by family, feeling loved and loving myself,” she said. “It’s amazing how much a cute dress can boost your confidence and become a part of your happiest memories.”
natalie, new york, @natalieflorentino
One of my best friends, Natalie, specifically chose Blondita’s Gwen top to celebrate her 19 years of life. When she was younger, she adored her birthday: the gifts, party, and especially the attention. Her birthday was hers to conquer every year.
“I couldn’t decide which was better, Christmas or my birthday,” she said. “I’d never thought that there would ever be a day where I didn’t want to relish in all the glory that was my birthday.”
When she turned 11 and started middle school, “all the hormones gut punched her” and “getting older felt less of an accomplishment and more of something to cower from.” Her birthdays made her feel small and distant from the little Natalie who made her birthday a grand occasion, leaving her sick to her stomach every year she got older.
One night over boxed wine with her girlfriends, they were chatting about birthdays. Her friend Olivia was ecstatic.
“Excitement plastered across her face” as Olivia spoke of her birthday. After Natalie shared her disdain for her own birthday, Olivia looked at her like someone disliking their birthday was impossible.
“Natalie, you’ve got it all twisted.” Olivia shook her head. “It’s your birthday. It’s your day. You have to own that.”
Olivia and Natalie are like two peas in a pod who always pick each other up. I’ve seen it with my own eyes. It’s beautiful hanging out with them. Her words stuck with her.
“She was right,” Natalie declared. “My birthday is my day. I have to own it.”
Natalie pivoted and celebrated her birthday a grand total of THREE times after that conversation. For her actual birthday, she planned a night out with her closest girlfriends. Her brand new outlook called for a brand new outfit, commemorating the first birthday of her new mindset after yearly vicious cycles of birthday-anxiety. She knew the centerpiece of her outfit had to be the Blondita top she’d been thinking about for a while.
“Not only was I going to joyfully celebrate my birthday again, I was going to look like a sexy ass bitch doing it.”
To date, that day was one of the best and most liberating birthdays she’s ever experienced. It was filled with laughter, digital camera pictures, cake, love, and a night out she vaguely remembers.
“I had, alas, broken the curse of bad sucky birthdays and eagerly await my next.”
naomi, denton, @yerbcore
Naomi wore a Blondita Sophia Tutu Dress and her girlfriend wore a pink tie to a local lesbian night. An older lesbian couple called them “fashionistas,” showering them with so much love and reminding her that inside, “We’re all girls that love a little sparkle and tulle!”
“It’s so beautiful how fashion unites generations and makes us realize we’re really not all that different,” said Naomi.
It was like a movie. They danced the night away in their beautiful matching outfits and didn’t even mind how soaked they got after running back to their car in a thunderstorm.
“Now, my dress always reminds me of that magical night surrounded by pure happiness and queer joy!”
athalia, new york, @athxlia
Athalia saved the Blondita Anne Top she bought at Café Forgot’s pop-up for the special day of love, Valentine’s Day. Her boyfriend flew from Wichita, Kansas to visit her in New York City for the first time since she moved here and she knew exactly what to wear for their excursion in the city.
“Wearing Blondita gave me a great sense of confidence and comfort during a period of so much change,” she said. “I now associate my Blondita top with a moment of love, excitement, and the beginning of a new chapter in my life.”
haley, new york, @haleyloverogers
“Pieces that just magically go together perfectly,”
And that’s exactly what happened when Haley decided to wear her Blondita Suzy Stripe Capris to Finn Wolfhard’s Fire From the Hip (2026) show at Webster Hall in July.
In general, capris are a staple in Haley’s closet. As a stylist and girl who LOVES dressing up, her favorite thing ever is when you don’t know what to wear. Wolfhard’s album has appealing visuals and imagery inspired by Barry Lyndon, and one thing about Haley is that she LOVES to be on theme. She was on the hunt for an 18th-century-style military coat. Accounting for the fact that it’s summer and extremely hot, it didn’t end up working out.
Fortunately, she matched her capris perfectly with a thrifted top, a bicorne-style hat, a tutu, and rainboots to combat against the rain.
“Dressing up for concerts and getting to see how other people decide to be ‘on theme’ is the best part about shows!” I 100% agree.
